In the game of the tournament, Frankford proved to be a great opponent against a much bigger Vernon team. In a back and forth game where the biggest lead was 5 points, the Bulldogs played with heart and emotion but came up short, losing 37-33. Lukas Guida has his best game of the season, scoring 16 points. In a game where both teams played well enough to win, Frankford came up just short. Nick Civitan played extremely well, handling the point guard position while also playing with his usual heart and emotion. Tyler Emma played brilliantly, securing key rebounds while also playing out of position offensively. Pierluca Ferdinand played out of position defensively, as Vernon had a player who was 6’3”. While the Bulldogs had their season end with the loss, they played a great game, earning the respect from the crowd.

Today, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, guest speaker Andrew Lubchansky shared the survival story of his grandparents during WWII with 8th grade English students. Jacob Weicenfeld joined the Polish partisans, resisted the Nazis as militia, and worked to document the atrocities suffered by Jewish prisoners. Genia Weicenfeld survived ghettos, cattle cars, death marches, Auschwitz Birkenau, and Ravensbruck. When she was liberated, she weighed only 42 pounds. May we always remember and honor the millions of lives lost and honor the stories of those who survived.
