Degrees and Certifications:
B.A. - Communication, M.A. - Education/Curriculum and Instruction
I was born and raised in Sussex County. I graduated from High Point Regional High School where I wrestled and ran cross country. I went onto Richard Stockton College, where I met my future wife. After two semesters, we transferred to Rutgers University together. I received my BA in communication with a minor in psychology. After college I worked in media sales in Manhattan for a couple years. I loved it, but ended up following my (then) girlfriend to Raleigh, NC were she had taken a job with IBM.
It was while in NC that I began working for Enterprise Rent-a-Car. I was quickly promoted into management and then to outside sales. Shortly after we were married, my wife was promoted to IBM's New York HQ and we moved to New York state. I was able to transfer to the NY/NJ Enterprise corporate office, but I quickly realized that my heart was no longer in sales. I decided to go back to school and get my MA in Education. It was an accelerated program and I obtained my degree in 18 months. The problem was that with no practical experience, I was not successful in finding a job.
I was bartending five nights a week and really just "spinning my wheels" when my wife's employer offered her a three year assignment in south Florida. We were off again on another adventure. We bought a house close to the beach and lived the Florida lifestyle. I got a job as a sales trainer/coach for a medical supply company, which combined my sales background and education acumen. It was three very fast and fun-filled years, but I still felt the need to pay forward the gift of love of learning that I was given as a child. I needed to be a school teacher.
When we returned to NJ in 2012, I knew exactly where I wanted to live: Sussex County, and what I wanted to do: teach.
I was hired at Wantage Elementary School, which I had attended as a child, to teach fifth grade, basic skills. My mentor teacher has been the man who was my fifth grade math teacher. Most recently, I worked at Fredon School as a second grade leave replacement teacher. The 2014-2015 school year was my first at Frankford Township School, and what an amazing year it was! The FTS Family provides the ideal environment for students (as well as educators) to reach astounding heights in learning!
The TEAM Room is one of inclusion, respect, and positivity. TEAM is an acronym which stands for Together Everyone Achieves More. In the TEAM Room, each idividual learns to take ownership of their learning and break out of "comfort zones." My motto is: respect yourself, your peers, your teachers, and the learning process. Respect + hard work = fun. I bring a lot of energy, goal orientation, and creativity into the classroom. I am passionate about making learning enjoyable through cutting edge technologies, music, physical activities, and creative teamwork.
In my various experiences, I have been blessed to have learned from some of the best educators. The most influential people in my life have been teachers and I am excited to pay that gift forward as I continue to teach, learn, and grow with the excellent Frankford Township School Family.
