• Educational Technology at Frankford School 
     

    The engineering design process is a cycle of steps that engineers follow to come up with a solution to a problem. Many times the solution involves designing a product or a process that meets certain criteria and/or accomplishes a certain task.  During the Educational Technology Cycle course at Frankford School, students will be introduced to a variety of tasks, which involve, problem solving, critical thinking, team work, innovation, design, and redesign.   Students will learn the application of Google, such as Google Docs, Google Slides, etc and utilize the Google drive platform to document their design process.

     
     
    In Grade 5, students will focus on the design process during which time they will prototype a functioning solar model car.  Students generate the design, build a model, identify and problem solve potential mechanical and electrical challenges.   
     
    In Grade 6, beginning with research students will create a design solution for a CO2 race car.  Using the design process, students will create via measurement; drawing, and fabricating a working CO2 model car.      
     
    In Grade 7, coding a LEGO EV3 robot will be the challenge of this course.  Building the LEGO EV3  model, students will identify and problem solve potential coding challenges to set the robot off into a set of commands to progress through a space challenge course.
     
    In Grade 8, utilizing Bernoulli’s Principles and Newton’s Third Law to race drones, studnets will become certified in drone education and complete a pilot certification course.  They Swill be able to describe the many applications of Drones and the use of related technologies in today’s society including possible future applications.
