Policies
As
part of the regular school program and according to state law, each
child, unless excused by a doctor’s written excuse, will
take part in the physical education program. This part of the
curriculum is important in child growth and development.
A. Policies and Procedures for Physical Education
1. Uniforms – Children in all grades will be required to wear
sneakers and white socks for physical education classes.
Children in grades 5-8 will be expected to wear suitable gym
shorts in red or white solid colors. The gym shorts should not have
belt loops, pockets, zippers, or be of unsafe length as determined by
the teacher. We encourage the purchase (at cost) of a school uniform.
Our uniforms meet safety requirements, allow for freedom of movement,
are easy to care for and are economically priced for a good value.
During Fall and Spring, students frequently participate in
physical education activities out-of-doors. Since weather conditions
are changeable, on certain day’s students wearing gym suits would be
more comfortable wearing additional clothing. Students are encouraged
to bring in an extra set of clothing (sweatshirts, sweaters, etc.) For
hygienic reasons, clothes worn during physical education activities
should not be worn to other classes.
Each Physical Education teacher has a valuable security box,
where students may have valuables "locked up." It is the student’s
responsibility to place the items in the security box.
B)
Equipment
1. To be used only with permission
2.
Used but not abused:
a.
Deliberately damaged or discarded equipment results in wasted tax
dollars and deprives other students.
b.
Students responsible for vandalism of equipment must pay for that
equipment as well as face disciplinary action.
c.
With certain equipment, students who do not take proper care of it will
have to supply their own.
d.
At the end of an activity, students must assume responsibility for
returning equipment to its assigned place. (Purpose: to prevent waste
and allow maximum use of equipment).

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART:
Frankford
Twp. School is also a participant in that national program,
Jump Rope for Heart. Jump Rope for Heart is a national student
exercise program. In New Jersey, the event is sponsored by the
New Jersey Association for Health, Physical Eduation, Recreation, and
Dance (NJAHPERD). Students jump rope in teams of six for a
combined total of 120 minutes. Participants collect donations
from family and friends and earn prizes based on the amount of money
they collect. These funds fight heart disease and stroke, the #1
killer in America. The students, the school, and the American
Heart Association all benefit in multiple ways from this experience.
FIELD
DAY:
Each year the students
are given the opportunity to participate in a day filled with fun
activities. There are two separate field days one for the
elementary program and one for the middle school children.
During the elementary program there are tons of activities spread out
across our school grounds. Students get a chance to walk around
trying the new activities. It is also an opportunity for parents
to get involved with their children's' physical activities because Field
Day asks for parent volunteers to help run different stations
throughout the day.
Field day for grades 5-8
adds the fun element of friendly competition. There 33 events
that include the balloon waddle, spoon hoop relay, trollie relay, long
jump, foul shooting,
high jump, and tug of war. Place winners in
each event earn points for his/her homeroom. The homeroom with
the most points wins for their grade level.
